A discreet leader

On heavily fished spots or in clear waters, some anglers like to use discretionary leaders. These are usually made from fluorocarbon.

Fluorocarbon is a fishing line that disappears better in water than nylon. This is due to its refractive index of 1.42 compared with that of water, which is 1.33. While nylon's refractive index is 1.55, fluorocarbon is less conspicuous in water.

Widely used for trout fishing, it is increasingly used for pike fishing in clear water. This carnivore is becoming increasingly wary as anglers seek it out. In Alpine lakes, it is common to see 3m long leaders in order to be as discreet as possible.

A leader to resist the teeth of pike

Nobody is supposed to ignore the 700 teeth of the pike. We've all had our leaders cut by a pike. Either by accident while looking for another species or because our leader was not strong enough. In both cases, there is a solution.

If you're fishing a spot populated by pike but want to target another species such as perch or black bass, don't neglect your leader. To keep control of your lure and keep it supple, you can use a titanium leader.

Titanium is thinner than fluorocarbon, has no shape memory, is very strong and can be used with small lures.
