Classic swimming fish Rapala

We had to start with this range of products. They've built the brand's reputation and still offer unique quality, with hand-adjustment of the lip in particular. They are trusted by anglers, thanks to years of experience and ever-improving efficiency. Here are some of their flagship models.

The Original Floater was the benchmark for many years after its release, making it a model that is still loved by anglers who knew it when it first came out. Despite a slightly dated range of colours, its action remains unique and timeless rod and reel in hand.

The Countdown came out around the same time. Meaning countdown, it's certainly the most popular and comes in sizes from 2.5cm to 11cm. It will target pike, zander and of course trout in small streams.

In the same range, you'll find the Husky Jerk, the Countdown magnum with its metal lip, the Shad Rap and the Super Shad Rap, which caught some very big pike when it first came out.

You can also count on more recent models, but which don't have the modernity of recently released lures. These include the vibrating Rattlin Rap, the jointed, which comes in several sizes, and the Rapala x rap series.

Modern swimming fish

TheRapala Super Shadow Rap is one of the latest to be launched. It is distinguished by a fairly new shape, close to the true profile of a roach or bream. It has an interesting thickness and yet retains the profile of a jerkbait. You'll find the Rapala Super Shadow Rap 11cm and the Super Shadow Rap 16cm. Both are ideal for pike fishing. Remember to choose the right reel.

We also need to tell you about the splendid Countdown Elite. A highly accomplished and magnificent evolution of the timeless Countdown, Rapala has enhanced this flagship model to offer a top-of-the-range finish for trout fishing in particular. The colours are splendid and are sometimes enough to make us give in to the collector's spirit. The truly innovative hull design of this hard bait Rapala and its ballast make it a unique lure, with sales figures set to soar.

The hard bait Shadow Rap is also part of the new generation. Offering a range of very interesting colours, it has been produced in a variety of models, with new models appearing every year. These include the hard bait Shadow Rap Jack Deep in 7cm for the deep end and the hard bait Shadow Rap fat jack 4cm.

Finally, there's the ultra-light series, which includes a wide range of small swimbaits for fine fishing for both perch and trout. You'll find shads, poppers and minnows to cover all types of water column and get the fish where they are.

Many other models are available for different situations:

  • Hard Bait Rapala X Rap Shad
  • Hard Bait Rapala Max Rap
  • Hard bait Rapala Bx Skitter Pop
  • Hard Bait Rapala Solid Shad
  • Hard Bait Rapala X-Rap Countdown

Hybrid swimming fish

This series developed by the brand has the advantage of combining the qualities of soft lures and swimming fish in a single lure. It's an original idea that has proved its worth on the water, particularly in the search for larger predators such as pike or even catfish.

The Rapala x rap Peto is another new lure from the brand. Its hybrid design is very interesting. It combines a natural swimming action thanks to the supple rubber tail and good resistance thanks to the hard front section. Pike will also be the main target with two sizes, the Rapala X rap Peto 14cm and the Rapala X Rap Peto 20cm. It's based on a shad or swimbait tail which provides a typical action. You can use it in a linear action or jerk it like a jerkbait.

The Otus is based on a different concept, this time around a large grub tail. Moving a large volume of water on retrieve, it will easily whet the appetite of nearby predators. The colours on offer are really well executed, and the junction between the hard and soft parts doesn't reveal any differences in treatment. There's a choice of two sizes, 17cm and 25cm, with the latter allowing you to select the biggest fish.

As you can see, for us, this Rapala X Rap Peto and Otus is part of the future of the brand, opening up a host of new possibilities for pike-perch, trout and all other predators.

The brand has come a long way since its inception, moving from basic lures to top-of-the-range swimfish models capable of staying on top of their game, despite the emergence of fierce, highly innovative competition. In fact, it won't be long before we see a few new product families in the future, which will only add to the quality of the range on offer.
