It's been several years since Shimano offered a small spinning reel with a rear brake for the French market. The Sahara now features this technology, along with its famous fighting brake, which allows you to change your brake settings at the touch of a finger. The 1000 size is ideally suited to small predators and trout in particular, while the 2500 model is more suited to pike perch and pike on lures.
