Drop-shot fishing has the advantage of being practised with a weight separate from the lure, allowing a more subtle approach to the predators you are after. The lure can be worked for long periods by slow retrieves and even on the spot. The lure can be presented at different depths, which is difficult with a jig head. As the lure itself is not leaded, the fish feels virtually no resistance when it is hooked.

Rigging :

The principle is to connect your hook (single) or carolina with a Palomar knot while keeping the point of your hook upwards by passing the tip of the line back through the eye of it. The Drop Shot weight will be attached to the leader 20cm to 50cm away from your soft bait.
