Fishing bag, a choice for all types of fishing

Fishing has always been done with a rod, reel, line and tackle bag. An essential accessory for any angler, it can be used to store all the fishing equipment you need, as well as the fish you catch.

The fishing bags and waistcoats of yesteryear have given way to a wide choice of different fishing bags. There's a special model for storing lures, sinkers, weight heads or fishing accessories. Backpacks and shoulder bags are very popular with streetfishermen.

If you want to take your tackle with you on a boat, you'll need to opt for a storage bag that will naturally hold your tackle boxes. If you're fishing from the shore, you'll want a more compact bag with a quality zip fas tener that can withstand a lot of opening.

All fishing brands will offer you a carry bag, a fishing backpack or a shoulder bag in their colours. The biggest names have used the most technical and noble materials to offer you a truly pleasurable experience with waterproof bags.

But don't be fooled by the fact that not all quality bags are created equal, and there are a number of details to take into account, depending on your use. The storage compartments, the quality of the carrying handle and the comfort of the shoulder straps on a fishing backpack all need special attention.

A MULTITUDE OF DIFFERENT MODELS

In order to cater for all types of fishing and anglers, different brands have had to develop a wide range of models. From the most technical to the simplest, you're bound to find a model to suit your fishing style.

The backpack is probably the most popular. It allows you to store most of your day's fishing gear and carry it everywhere. You can even attach a fishing rod to it for more possibilities once you're out on the water.

The fishing waistcoat is also one of those fishing accessories you'll find hard to part with. Short for wading or long for shore fishing, it's a practical tote bag, with pockets all over for methodical storage. Some models also double as a fishing rucksack and waistcoat.

The carry bag is also a very popular fishing bag. Its large capacity makes it ideal for carrying clothes, waders or whole boxes of lures. Once at home, it can be used as a storage bag.

Modern fishing, and streetfishing in particular, has led to new products that are proving highly successful. These include shoulder bags, sling bags and fishing belts. More compact, these bags can carry one or two tackle boxes and a few tools and accessories.

THE DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS

Unlike other items or products in the fishing industry that may have reference brands, a fishing bag can come from many different horizons. With Chinese manufacturing accessible to all brands, it's easy to come up with fairly similar products.

The brands that will stand out today are those that have a real pool of anglers who think about their comfort and practicality once they're on the water. They are in the best position to offer the little extras on bags that often make all the difference.

The Rapala brand is certainly one of the biggest in this respect. Their series of bags are often highly successful and really designed by anglers for anglers. What's more, a few weeks after buying a model, you'll discover its full capabilities.

The Fox Rage models are not to be outdone, with a real passion for offering effective and affordable products to lure anglers. Drawing on their experience of carp fishing equipment, the designers have produced a complete range of top-quality products that appeal to anglers. Their success proves it.

We could also mention a number of Japanese brands that also stand out for the level of finish and research that goes into their models. Evergreen for example, Deps or Jackall offer real marvels that are unlike any other product. And when it comes to quality, they really are top of the range.

HOW TO MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE?

The most important thing to consider is how you intend to use your bag. You need to know what you're going to use it for and what you're going to put inside it.

If you're an avid angler, you should not hesitate to buy the best models. Whether it's a shoulder bag or a fishing waistcoat, they'll have to stand up easily to the elements, sun and wind, and be easy to wash.

You should also keep an eye on the number of storage compartments. Having a very nice, modern bag but only one large compartment is not necessarily the wisest choice. Try to imagine what your space will look like.

Another point not to be overlooked is the zip. This will be used many times during the life of the bag. So if it's a bit weak, you'll quickly have to change it. If it's also waterproof, that's a plus for keeping your gear as dry as possible.

Lastly, comfort. Bear in mind that you'll be able to carry your bag for hours on end. All the little details are important if you don't want your back to suffer quickly. A carrying handle, a bag that's too big, a place for your fishing reel - all these little things can make a big difference.
