The different shapes and sizes of spinners.

Like all lures on the market, the spinning spoon is available in different shapes and sizes. Its simple construction makes it accessible to all budgets. Made up of piano wire, a weight, a paddle and a hook, it's an easy-to-use lure.

Like the Spinnerbait, its evolution, it comes in a variety of blade shapes:

  • the colorado (round)
  • willow (willow leaf)
  • indiana (the best known, the aglia)
  • the traversed palette

The best known of these is the Indiana, which is an intermediate shape between the colorado and the willow, and can be found on Blue Fox Vibrax, for example. This is the most versatile blade shape.

The willow or colorado are more often associated with larger spoons designed for salmon or predator fishing.

Its willow-leaf shape has the advantage of fishing deeper water thanks to its low drag. The Colorado, on the other hand, gets into action very quickly, as soon as the water falls.

Target fish

Salmonids

Well-known to trout anglers, the spinner is the ideal lure for trout because it can be fished in water of varying depths and with varying currents.

Some models have been developed specifically for current fishing, while others (like the Indiana) are more versatile and fish in all conditions.

All you have to do is adjust the retrieve speed and the direction of the current to make it as attractive as possible.

Carnivorous fish

Larger spoons are available for searching for predators. The vibration and flashing lights make them a great lure for pike. They will also appeal to perch, which are fond of small fish, thanks to small models similar to those used for trout.

Sometimes with tassels or a fish imitation, it's up to you to choose the spoon best suited to the fishing you want to do.
