For many years braid is the fishing line used as a line body. For trout and other fish, it's a fishing line with very low elasticity and very little drag in the water. The braid is very pleasant to use and gives an optimal feel for the bites.
However, its low elasticity, which can be a real advantage, can be complicated to manage when fishing for small brook trout. Small trout have a tendency to bounce around on the surface of the water and become easily unhooked. By using nylon as a line body, you have enough elasticity to avoid many of these unhooks.
If you're using a braid for trout fishing, you'll need to use monofilament to optimise the discretion of your rig. The braid is all very well but it's not discreet, which is why the use of a leader is essential.
You can build your leader from nylon or fluorocarbon. These are the 2 monofilaments used for trout fishing. Despite its low elasticity, fluorocarbon has a refractive index close to that of light. This makes it the most discreet fishing line in the water. So choose your fishing line according to your needs.
