Internal combustion engines are increasingly being banned from waterways for environmental reasons. Electric motors are also much quieter. They can be found on boats, and increasingly on float tubes, to enable anglers to access remote fishing spots or to fish in areas with strong currents.

More and more anglers are fitting their float tubes with electric motors. Initially used to access fishing spots where it is not possible to launch a boat, the float tube is a small, lightweight, inflatable and affordable one-person craft.
It is for this last reason that many float tubes are equipped with motors, the aim being to make them more versatile and improve their comfort.
Some brands that have already developed electric motors for boats have understood this very well, offering motors with very short shafts to adapt to float tubes. These electric motors have a power output of around 20lb, and the size and driving style are adapted to the float tube.
For boat fishing, electric motors are fast becoming indispensable. Most fishing boats have electric motors for discretion, drift management or authorisation purposes. With power ratings generally ranging from 55lb to 80lb, there are several power ratings and different shaft sizes to suit your boat.
On a boat, electric motors can be controlled in 3 different ways. Some are supplied with a remote control so you can steer your boat like a remote-controlled boat, others with a pedal (very popular for powerfishing), or with a tiller like a classic combustion engine.
