Fishing Nylon

This artificial material made from plastic has been used in fishing for many years. Nylon is a rather elastic fishing line that was initially used for line bodies and later for making leaders.

More elastic than its fluorocarbon counterpart, it has been neglected by anglers despite its many qualities. Its elasticity reduces the number of stalls and improves fishing comfort with vibrating lures.

Nylon, ideal for leaders

Shunned by lure anglers, nylon is making a comeback. Nylon is a transparent filament. It is recommended for the design of discreet leaders. What's more, its suppleness is appreciated in large diameters to guarantee your lure a quality swim while optimising the strength of your rig. For example, you can build leaders from 80/100 for pike, which will be less restrictive than a fluorocarbon leader.

In small diameters, nylon is used for perch and trout fishing. In fact, its elasticity attenuates the jumping of these fish and prevents many stalls.

Making a nylon line body

In recent years, nylon has made a comeback on our reels. In the United States, it is widely used as a line body for vibrating lures. The elasticity of nylon reduces the uncomfortable vibrations caused by crankbaits or chatterbaits. What's more, its elasticity means that hooks can be inserted into the jaws without tearing. As a result, this filament is increasingly used for black bass fishing.

For trout or perch fishing, you are free to spool your entire reel or use it for leaders.
