Light jigging is a popular sea fishing technique for cod, meagre and pollack. The Wombat 71 LJ casting reel from Sakura has been specially designed for this type of fishing. It features a fast 7.1:1 ratio that generates 78cm of retrieve per turn of the crank.

Compact, it still has plenty of capacity for deep fishing without difficulty. The Wombat 71 LJ casting reel is designed for light jigging, madai, tenya and other trendy and effective Japanese techniques. It is also ideal for vertical fishing.

Constructed from a single-piece aluminium frame, it is both strong and light, weighing in at just 269g. So it's the perfect complement to a Salt Sniper or Shükan.

Thanks to its fast ratio, it's perfect for deep jigging. A ratio that's too slow won't be comfortable to use when animating and retrieving the lure. The handle is adjustable and comes with a large EVA grip for a comfortable hold. You'll also benefit from an 8kg drag to take on powerful fish.
